NASA’s Flame Thrower

Wednesday October 10, 2018 Written by Ronan

We don’t usually bask in the burning of the Earth’s precious resources, but this is for a good cause: NASA’s 2035 human expedition to Mars. That’s only 17 years away, so we hope they’re doing other preparation apart from lighting this terrifying fire pipe.

But what a fire pipe it is. The most powerful space launch rocket booster ever built, it produces 1.6 million kilograms of thrust, which we are told is enough to conquer gravity, get us safely to Mars, and fire a few marshmallows while we’re at it.

But enough numbers and science. Look at that spectacular flame (and the endearing robot arm that snuffs it out at the end).
