The Magical World of Golf Ball Interiors

Golf balls may have cute dimples and all, but their true beauty lies underneath. To get at this inner goodness, photographer James Friedman cracked, smashed and sliced the things and snapped them for his series Interior Design.

The result is a study of abstraction, with bright, colourful gobsmacker patterns and strange, entrancing textures hidden under the uniformly white exteriors. Technically speaking, in golf, you can “chip”, “shank”, “punch” and “slice” a golf ball, just not in the way Friedman prefers.
