Denis Tarasov’s photographs of illustrated Russian mafia headstones, as featured over on The Guardian, are testaments to the values – and steeze – of some truly deadly dead dudes: the Russian mafia.

Whether they’re shown standing about in baggy designer suits, leaning on the bonnets of Volvos, smoking cigarettes, or sitting by dishes of gleaming fruit, it seems the mobsters depicted in these painstakingly etched images were keen to be seen with their shadily-acquired worldly goods for more than one (brief) lifetime.

Fitting tributes to fellas who, though caught alive by their enemies, won’t ever be caught dead without their floor-length leather jackets.
