Thirsty Thursday: Red Duck

Thursday August 16, 2012 Written by luke

Red Duck is doing small-batch craft beer right. Located in a small warehouse in Ballarat, they brew a giant range of regular and limited-release ales.

There are eight regular ales, six limited-release that are only brewed once per year, seven more that have only been brewed once and another eight soon to be released (such as the 'Smells Like a Pony', apparently a 14 per cent buckwheat braggot).

Started in 2005, Red Duck are still small, but that's the way they like it. Each release only contains 500 litres, so the emphasis is on seasonality, experimentation and untapped flavours. At the moment the brewery only has a takeaway service, but this summer they're hoping to open a cellar door, so you can really settle in, take your time and work your way through the entire list.
