No sausage fest jokes, please. Melbourne finally has a salami festival, or should we say, festa.
Sausage makers have toiled in their garages all winter long in the pursuit of cured greatness and on September 16 their work shall be judged and - more importantly - sampled. It's all happening at the Melbourne Salami Festa, an event that features Italian cooking, salami-making workshops and an award for 'best salami in show'.
Attendees will be encouraged to try all sorts of smallgoods – and do their best Matt-Preston impersonations. Expert judges will also be on-hand to decide which salami takes the bacon (sorry), and a people's choice award will be voted too.
If you haven't married into an Italian family, this is the next best thing. Sunday September 16 at Florinian House, 814 High Street, Thornbury. Full details here.
