Stephen Fry called it "as mesmerisingly beautiful an iPad app as you could hope to see". He's right.

Released in Australia earlier this week, Heuristic's Cyclepedia is simply majestic. The app features 100 of the most iconic bikes ever built, which were selected from the original Cyclepedia book.

Every model can be rotated 360 degrees, zoomed in to the most minute detail and sorted by release date, type, country of origin, materials and weight.

A succinct description accompanies each one, as do (in many cases) engineering drawings, videos, vintage photography (of the bikes in action) and quaint, hilarious adverts.

It's not just for bike nerds.
