If you’ve ever looked at your backyard and thought, “This’d make a nice suburban farm, if only I knew anything about, you know, farming,” help is around the corner.
On February 27, our pals Matt and Lentil Purbrick of Grown and Gathered will host Year Round Harvest, a workshop focusing on how to turn your backyard into a productive, year-round ecosystem. Run in conjunction with the Sustainable Living Festival at their farm in Tabilk, Victoria, the workshop will cover everything from running your own home compost system to seasonal growing and raising successful seedlings.
Similarly, if you’ve just harvested a load of fresh produce and want to know how to preserve it for the coming winter, they’ve got your back. Their one-day fermentation and preserving workshop in Melbourne on April 16 will step you through the ins and outs of preserving food, i.e. making fermented pickles.
Spaces for both workshops are limited, so head to Grown and Gathered to reserve a spot.
