Fall Asleep to 12 Hours of Ambient Sound from 'Blade Runner', 'Alien' and 'Star Trek'

Many people use white noise generators to help drown out the hubbub of modern life, but musician and YouTuber Cheesy Nirvosa has found a different solution: 12-hour loops of background noise from cult sci-fi films and TV shows.

Whether these strange, more than slightly ominous soundscapes will help you sleep or just put you in a really odd frame of mind is open to debate, but Nirvosa’s 'Ambient Geek Sleep Aids' are certainly novel. Who wouldn’t want to recreate Blade Runner's haven-in-a-heartless-world by looping Rick Deckard’s ambient apartment noise? You may find yourself mumbling “Enhance, Stop. Pan right and pull back, stop” in your sleep, but that’s is a small price to pay.

If that particular sonic mise-en-scène doesn’t get you snoozing, Nirvosa’s YouTube channel has a long playlist that includes ambient tracks from Doctor Who’s T.A.R.D.I.S., Alien’s Nostromo and pretty much any fictional space vehicle you can think of.

One thing we recommend you don’t play is 12 hours of gurgling from Japanese horror classic, The Grudge. You’ve been warned.
