The latest short film by Sydney photographer and director Keith Loutit conveys the massive energy of Rio's Carnival in a miniaturised format.
Keith's best-known for his ongoing "Small World" series, which utilises time-lapse and tilt-shift photography to create miniture real-world environments. He's used a similar technique for The City of Samba, working with Rio-based creative director Jarbas Agnelli to snap almost 168,000 photographs that were subsequently compiled to make the final film.
The soundtrack, created especially for the piece by Jarbas, ranges from pared-back minimal sound to a full-blown samba on strings. It's a combination that brings one of the world's greatest cities - and parties - to life.
