Genuine Faker

Melbourne-native Chet Faker makes music that doesn't fit neatly in a box labelled 'folk' or 'soul' or 'electronic'.

He shares James Blake's aptitude for manipulating sound and combining disparate minimalist tracks, and he tackles a cover version of Phoenix's 'North' by dismantling it like Thom Yorke might. But pigeonholing either of those artists is like pinning the tail on an ADD donkey and Chet's work is similarly elusive. Listen to his tracks here.

Chet plays live at The OAF Gallery Bar in Sydney on December 9 and is opening for Toro Y Moi and Washed Out at The Hi Fi in Melbourne on February 8.
