Hudson River Project

You may have noticed Tudor watches gracing the pages of Smith over the past few issues. The Swiss horologists make some pretty serious timepieces, but recently they’ve put their minds to producing something a little different: a short film.

Tudor x Hudson River Project follows English adventurer James Bowthorpe as he attempts to row 500 kilometres from the source of the Hudson River in the Adirondack Mountains all the way to New York City. The catch: his boat is made entirely from garbage he found on the streets of Manhattan.

“I wanted to find new ways of exploring places that we think we know,” Bowthorpe explains. The film is just a teaser – a longer cut will screen at festivals later this year – but from what we’ve seen so far, it looks like Bowthorpe is on to a winning idea. For updates about his progress, and info on the full film’s release, head to hudsonriverproject.com.
