As the cliché goes, dogs are a man's best friend, especially if that man happens to be a 26-year-old Canadian photographer.
Toronto-based Mark Peckmezian peddles a fine line in faux-retro, sepia-stained photographs that revolve around one of three things: humans, cats or dogs. It's the latter of these that we've become infatuated with of late. His stark, curiously framed canine portraits seeming to capture dogs at their most natural and unaffected.
Peckmezian's dogs almost always appear without a human offsider. Left to their own devices, the cat-like "I don't give a shit" attitude is palpable: these dogs don't need an owner, they just like having one.
