Unlike many street photographers, WA-born, Tokyo-based photographer Ben Davis has take his image-making beyond shooting photos of the cool shit he sees.
A fascination with preserved food culture in Japan is the motivation for his most recent work. He's documenting the ridiculous amount of mass-produced stuff that he and his housemates consume.
In a contrasting project, he's shooting an exercise in harvesting, preserving and consuming his own batch of dried persimmon from a tree he found behind his house. What could be perceived as political is born from pure curiosity – an admirable approach.
