The Incomplete Dictionary of Showbirds

17 Oct by smith

U.K. photographer Luke Stephenson is no stranger to obsession.

His series typically involve picking an obscure something - clown eggs, balloon animals, foyer fauna and icecream vans - and spending months hunting down and showcasing the strange and varied aesthetic world behind it.

One of his ongoing obsession is showbirds. Primarily budgies. In An Incomplete Dictionary of Showbirds, Stephenson collates the past two years of work into a single beautifully presented, hardbound collection (with a choice of four covers). It's not out quite yet, but pre-orders are available now for dispatch on the 12th of December, so the timing is right if you're looking for a special Christmas something for the budgie enthusiast in your life.

"Cool Vans", a feature on Stephenson's icecream trucks, appeared in Smith volume three. Find your closest stockist here, buy volume three here, or subscribe here.
