Disruptive Pattern Material

19 Oct by smith

Investigating stories for Smith has taken us to some wonderful and unexpected places: pinball message boards, Masonic lodges and, recently, inside the controversy of camouflage.

It was here we met Hardy Blechman, designer of Maharishi and a man who has spent most of his life studying, collecting and creating incredibly intricate camouflage. He also wrote the book on it. Getting stuck into DPM: Disruptive Pattern Material was a highlight of putting volume four together. Inside, Blechman documents almost every type of camo known to and worn by man, including the Zambian wriggly stripe and the Mexican duck hunter.

"It's a Cover Up", a story about the billion dollar controvery surrounding camouflage appears in Smith volume four. Find your closest stockist here, buy volume four here, or subscribe here.
