Cut The World

20 Aug by jonty

Willem Dafoe's latest performance is a real knockout – and it lasts less than four minutes. It's a video for Antony and the Johnsons' new song, "Cut the World".

Antony Hagerty's angelic, androgynous, heavenly or maudlin (call it what you will) voice provides the ideal ambience for a broody Dafoe (or is it the other way around?). The video by art director Nabil Elderkin sees Dafoe as a hard-worn salary man and also stars performance artist Marina Abramovic. A warning, though: this video is NSFTS (that's not safe for the squeamish). And a local footnote: Antony and the Johnsons are performing at the Melbourne Festival on October 12-13.
