English cartoonist Tom Gauld's work is funny and smart. His comics have featured regularly in The Guardian and The New York Times, and now he's sharing them on his tumblr: You're All Just Jealous of My Jetpack. 

Gauld's work takes the highbrow (literature, history, philosophy) and marries it with lowbrow (the comic strip). The results are as delightfully silly as they are clever, drawn in a lovely crosshatch style that somehow befits the subject matter. Garfield it ain't, but who needs the same old joke about 'Mondays' when comics can be this sharp? They'll brighten up your internet – and make you feel a little smarter too.
