Making public art public

23 Mar by wilfred

A while back the city installed a public sculpture in our neighbourhood that my friends have alternately called an eyesore and a travesty. My friends can be a bit dramatic, but they have a point.

'Echology' is a series of public seminars that aim to bridge the gap between civic funded 'public art' and the public. No more eyesores! (We hope.) Events will be held on March 26 in Melbourne, March 28 in Brisbane and March 29 in Sydney. The Sydney event is presented by COFA's National Institute for Experimental Arts, check in at their website regularly for other exhibitions, talks and events of similar mind-expanding potential.
