Sonic, Mario and Link are characters we talk about like old friends. Game Masters gets the gang back together and goes behind the scenes of their creation.
Starting June 28, Melbourne's ACMI will salute a selection of designers (and characters) who changed the history of gaming. Attendees will be able to wrap their hands around 125-plus playable games, from those straight out of the '70s arcade through to the latest consoles and mobile game technology.
A dedicated film program will run alongide the exhibition, featuring classics such as Akira and Heavy Metal, and a massive forum is planned to launch the event this Thursday. Creative workshops and 'in coversation' sessions with top-shelf game designers are also part of the program. Tickets to the exhibition start at $17.50 from the ACMI site.
