Art & About

21 Sep by smith

From faces in the trees to friendly billboards to raining houses to outdoor parties, Sydney's public spaces will soon be wrapped into the 11th annual Art & About festival for a full calendar month.

Starting September 21 (today) and running until late October, it's going to be hard to manoeuvre about the city without stumbling upon something strange and interesting. As always, the program is a lot to take in, but we're particularly eyeing off:

Last Drinks: Based around the legendary and now gone Hotel Australia, Last Drinks is a smartphone-guided street tour of the almost century-long history of the famous pub.

Windwalk: Put on your weathervane helmet and then take a tour of the city guided by nothing but the wind.

In Conversation with John Kaldor: An in depth conversation with Bauhaus-enthusiast and iconic Australian artist John Kaldor.

Architecture on Show: Andrew Burns presents his latest works from around the world, exploring the relationship between landscape and geometry.

A Moveable Feast: All of Sydney's food trucks cluster in George Street for one night only.

I Wish You Hadn't Asked: It's a house that rains. Non-stop. And you can walk around in it. Read more about James Dive's fantastical vision in Smith volume four. Find your closest stockist here, buy volume four here, or subscribe here.
